MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has honored the Bukidnon Technical-Vocational Institutions Association (BUKTIA) for hosting the forum that serves as a channel for disseminating information and updates related to technical-vocational education training (TVET) programs, scholarships, job opportunities, and industry demands.

TESDA-10 Regional Director Dan M. Navarro said the forum aims to raise awareness of the crucial role of TVET and encourage schools to enhance the quality of technical-vocational education, maintaining connections with industry partners, employers, and stakeholders, facilitating strong collaboration between TVET institutions and the labor market.

"We gather here today to emphasize the importance of our partnerships as we are entrusted with the responsibility to oversee TESDA, administer the program, and deliver training and education to multiple batches each year," Navarro explained during the forum.

He said the BUKTIA advocates for the TVET sector and promotes its importance in the country’s workforce and economic development by providing platforms for sharing knowledge and best practices--through innovative approaches--among institutions.

"In our commitment to locate individuals in need, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds who rely on government support, we now have the opportunity to advocate for additional scholarship programs and allocations," Navarro said.

He emphasized that TESDA uses this forum to gather valuable insights and feedback from TVIs. This information, he said, helps convey the development of policies, guidelines, and regulations that govern technical-vocational education. By involving stakeholders in the decision-making process, TESDA ensures that the policies implemented are practical, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the industry and the learners, he added.

Over 80 school presidents, registrars, industrial associations, tech-vocational institution representatives, TESDA regional and provincial officials, and other stakeholders participated in the 2nd TVET Forum and Assessment Center Conference on 22 May 2023, at San Isidro College, Malaybalay City.
