IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon (PIA)--The Office of Civil Defense (OCD-10) honored more than 80 rescuers and responders from various provinces in Northern Mindanao after completing the rigorous Community First Responders Training Course held at the National Fire Training Institute-satellite campus in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

Aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of participants in providing quick and systematic responses during disaster situations, the training course ensued in collaboration with the Regional Disasters Risk Reduction and Management (RDRRM) Council.

The Philippine Army and the Philippine Coast Guard also shared their expertise in the training sessions.

Assistant Regional Director Gilbert Conde of OCD-10, who handled the training, emphasized the significance of strengthening the abilities of rescuers in assessing and managing emergencies, as they are the first to arrive on the scene in an emergency call.

"Those comprehensive methods instilled in the training are critical in effectively managing emergencies, saving lives, and minimizing damage in disaster-stricken communities," he explained.

In light of this, OCD Regional Director Antonio Sugarol encouraged the Community First Responders Training Course graduates to share their experiences and newfound knowledge with the local government partners. (JMCleopas-GIP/PIA-10/Bukidnon)
