MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA) — The city government of Malaybalay has deployed over P31 million worth of vehicles and equipment to support frontline services in barangays and city offices.

Newly acquired assets include a mobile clinic for the City Health Office (CHO), a bus for the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), service vehicles, and technical equipment.

Additional units include a patient transport vehicle donated by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and a three-wheeled motor vehicle (bao-bao) donated by a private establishment.

Mayor Jay Warren Pabillaran said the CHO’s mobile clinic is intended to bring medical services to remote barangays without immediate access to health centers.

“This mobile unit will deliver routine check-ups, vaccinations, and minor medical interventions closer to homes, reducing travel time and easing congestion at city health facilities,” he said during the turnover ceremony at the New City Hall grounds, May 27.

Pabillaran added that the CDRRMO bus will be used for evacuations and transport during emergencies, including floods, landslides, and fires. It will also support disaster preparedness activities such as training, simulations, and relief distribution in distant barangays.

Mini dump trucks were assigned to urban barangays Sumpong and Barangay 6 to address increased waste generation.

“Previously, the absence of dedicated collection vehicles led to irregular garbage disposal and mounting sanitation concerns. The provision of dump trucks is a direct response to these challenges and part of our solid waste management efforts,” the mayor said.

A farm tractor was turned over to a local farmers’ cooperative to support land preparation and improve efficiency.

The City Economic Enterprise Development and Management Office (CEEDMO) received two motorcycles for slaughterhouse operations.

“These will allow our workforce to conduct swift inspections and coordinate with meat vendors across barangays,” CEEDM Officer Romeo Lapeciros, Jr. said.

Barangays 5 and 8 each received a pickup vehicle to improve service delivery.

The Traffic Management Center received a speed gun to support traffic enforcement and road safety amid rising vehicle volume.

According to the City General Services Office, while the total approved budget was P36.4 million, actual spending totaled P31,742,710, resulting in savings of P3,657,290.

“The city government saved money by planning carefully and buying in bulk. We also follow fair evaluations to pick the best deals for the project,” Pabillaran said. (BGE/PIA-10/Bukidnon)
