BUKTIA hosts TVET forum, TESDA tackles scholarship programs

Cleopas MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has honored the Bukidnon Technical-Vocational Institutions Association (BUKTIA) for hosting the forum that serves as a channel for disseminating information and updates related to technical-vocational education training (TVET) programs, scholarships, job opportunities, and industry demands. TESDA-10 Regional Director Dan M. Navarro said the forum aims to raise awareness of the crucial role of TVET and encourage schools to enhance the quality of technical-vocational education, maintaining connections with industry partners, employers, and stakeholders, facilitating strong collaboration between TVET institutions and the labor market. DOLE, ChildFund Phils vow to eradicate child labor in Bukidon

MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--Bukidnon, an agricultural province with the highest incidence of child labor, is taking strong measures to combat and eliminate child labor. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that in 2021 the number of working children in the country engaged in child labor was estimated at around 935,000. Fifteen in every 100 child laborers were in Northern Mindanao. The agriculture sector reported the highest proportion of working children registering 45.7 percent in 2021. MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--The Department of Agriculture-Northern Mindanao (DA-10), headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado together with private seed companies, introduces the latest yellow and white corn varieties via a corn derby, kicking off with a ceremonial planting here, May 16, 2023.   The activity aims to champion the performance of 17 corn cultivars for this wet cropping season in the 968-meter-high area's climate and soil conditions.   Collado said the corn derby is an opportunity for farmers to compare the performance of various corn cultivars before deciding on their preferred cultivars based on yield, resistance to pests and diseases, drought tolerance, production costs, and returns.   Eight seed companies participated in the event, showcasing their diverse corn varieties planted on a 764-square-meter plot. DA-NorMin distributes P4.8M in cash aid to Bukidnon farmers

MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--Each of the 965 rice farmers in Maramag, Bukidnon, received P5,000 cash aid on May 9 from the Department of Agriculture-Northern Mindanao. DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene Collado said that the Department of Agriculture granted the P4.825 million cash aid to eligible rice farmers in Bukidnon through the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) program. “The Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) is a registry of farmers, fisherfolk, and farm laborers that serves as a targeting mechanism for the identification of beneficiaries for different agriculture-related programs and services of the government,” he said. Collado explained that only those RSBSA-registered rice farmers tilling not more than 2 hectares of rice fields are qualified to receive the assistance. Epan MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)--The National Food Authority (NFA)-Bukidnon has officially started distributing the One-Time Grant of Rice Assistance (OTRA) to employees of National Government Agencies (NGAs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), as well as military and uniformed personnel. This initiative is under Administrative Order No. 2, following the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) list of beneficiaries. Supervising Grains Officer Junrie T. Dumas of NFA Bukidnon said around 26,000 government employee-beneficiaries province-wide could receive the allocated NFA rice. "Our main goal is to prioritize those Bukidnon government workers listed based on the contingent fund released by DBM.
